  1. Get Over It

Those who know me as a song writer will recognize this song as Boss On a Spit. What happened here is I performed that song but really didn't get the response I was looking for. I re-wrote it and sang Get Over It at Vancouver Island Music Fest and received a standing ovation .

Lyrics

Get Over It

Boss calls me in his office, Wants to read my evaluation
Says I'm highly adequate despite my limitations
I’m TOO short , I'm too wide My hair is way too long
Well I walked out, I sat down and I wrote him my response
--------------------------------------
You promised when I started a corner office for my own
Instead I'm in a cube farm, 3 walls don't make a home
You Said I'd have a budget and bonus plan to match
But your promises are broken because of some small catch
------------------------------------------
get over in get over it
Tell myself time and again to Get over it
Like a good Canadian I just suck it up
Somethings gotta break or give, 'cause I've damn near had enough
---------------------------------------------
Now its 3 months later and you've started playing tough
Suddenly all the work I do, is never quit enough
You demand more out of me but ya will not pay me more
Yell and scream it’s your way or I'm headed out the door
-----------------------------------------------
I find my self dreaming over coffee and a scone
We could get out camping someplace safe and all alone
I'd build a roaring fire, to give us warmth and light
And your fate would finally catch you, ya bloody parasite
--------------------------------------------
Get over it Get over it
Tell myself time and again to Get over it
Like a good Canadian I just suck it up
Somethings gotta break or give, 'cause I've damn near had enough
------------------------------------------
Well our chance finally got here, a company camping trip we're on.
We hiked for hours to get here, a working day's more fun,.
You had me carry every thing told me how your back was bad
Then from the pack I slugged all day, you pull your oversized think pad (Ah)
--------------------------------------------------
Darkness falls so suddenly, and the fire is very bright
Casting flickering shadows in its dancing light
The smell of steak broiling, seems to permeate the air
We've rubbed in all the spices, first plucking out the hair
-------------------------------------------------
A couple hours’ passes and the dancing frenzies done
We settle down for a little, boss upon the bun
Vying for the best parts, some rib a little roast
No one touches the heart of course, it just turns to ash and smoke
----------------------------------------------
Boss on a spit boss on a spit
Hear the snap and crackle of a boss on a spit
Dancing in a circle In the Fires sparkling light
Turning slowly or' the embers we giggle in delight
--------------------------------------------------
Now its Monday morning we avoid each others eyes (oh yea)
Yet there’s little smiles that are too hard to disguise
Police made their enquirers, and wrote him off so soon
Seem like all the money in the safe is gone, (the parties planned for June)
---------------------------------------------------
Things have settled quite nicely we are now a co-operative
We've shared the risks shared rewards, we even shared a rib
Theories come and theories go of the boss who left no trace
And every year we go out to our happy camping place
----------------------------------------------
Boss on a spit boss on a spit
Hear the snap and crackle of a boss on a spit
Dancing in a circle In the Fires sparkling light
Turning slowly or' the embers we giggle in delight
Get Over it (We Say!) Boss on a spit
Hear the snap and crackle of a boss on a spit
Dancing in a circle In the Fires sparkling light
Turning slowly or' the embers we all giggle with delight
Turning slowly or' the embers we all giggle with delight
(giggles multiple to fade out end with bass sounding like police coming)
